There is a lot of people with health problems in America, the reasons are could be many, but a growing trends is obesity. The major problem is not just us but that we are growing obese child. One of the problems that is causing this is our lifestyle, we are encouraging our children to eat junk food, they see what we eat and what their friends eat and what people at TV eat and they think that is correct. They dont know the risks of health and obesity.
Is our responsability as parents to advice our children and teach them what is the right way to eat, not just by telling them that they should not eat junk food, but by giving example. If you want them to be healthy and have the habit of eating healthy nutrient food, you need to eat and give healthy food at your house.
Kids sometimes can be difficult to teach and they can be rebellious, so trying to force them to eat healthy might not work. So what can you do to avoid childhood obesity?
What i would do, is serve healthy natural food at breakfast, meal and dinner once they get the habit of healthy food they will not want to eat junk food that easily.
Avoid buying junk food in the supermarket, if you want them to stop eating fat foods, dont buy them and they will not have that options, instead buy healthy desserts or at least, foods, desserts and ingredients that have the necessary nutrients to grow healthy.
Dont give the kid money to buy junk food at school or at the store, instead give him a ready made sandwich to take to school and eat it, when he is hungry.
Let him know of what is the reason to eat food with vitamins and nutrients, what are its benefits and tell him how important is to do exercise on a regular basis. If your child is not exercising, play with him, buy a ball and play with him and he will like it, then take him to sports events and encourage him to play with his friends.
