Weight loss products seem to be selling everywhere, people of all ages want to lose weight and be fit, nevertheless we are seeing an increase problem in people with obesity and that includes children and teenagers.
Over the last 20 years the amount of childhood and teen obesity has more than double, 30% of child between 6 and 11 years old are obese, those figures are shocking but at the same time sad. We need to have a closer look at why this is happening and what can we do about it.
There are many possible causes for the growing trend of obesity, some of the most common are that people are eating more junk food, child and teens are doing less sports and more static activities, people are in a hurry and eat more fast food and a few others.
However, those figures are not normal and it has become an epidemic, teenagers should be doing sports and outside activities in their school and with their friends, but instead they are playing video games and watching hours of tv.
Our child are not doing outside activities with their friends, they are not playing sports for kids, they are just sitting in front of the tv, eating snacks. Most of the times they are just doing the same that the family does and they dont know any better.
There is a lot that parents can do for their children and teens to avoid serious health problems in the future like diabetes, cancer, high blood pressure and more.
Parents need to play with their children and encourage outside activities with their friends, dont allow tv for long hours, buy healthy foods including vegetables and fruits. Fast food is an enemy of health, if you are buying your children fast food every day they will get obese.
There are a lot more things that you can do to help your teens and children to avoid obesity and be healthy, but its a lifestyle, its not just about losing weight and then continue doing the same, you need to encourage a healthy living lifestyle.
