You should teach your child by example so he can avoid overweight problems. Buy healthy food, full of nutrients and vitamins, avoid fast food and junk food that is completely unhealthy and can harm the health of your child
Do exercise with your kid, show him movements, teach him football, soccer, basketball. Take him to outside activities, camping and any other recreationg activity that involves physical effort. This will create an habit of healthy exercising in your child.
Dont watch too much tv with your child, the problem with tv is that it can become an addiction at an early age, kids sit in front of the tv for hours and also play video games for hours and eat. So they are not involve in any other physical activity and get fat.
