Preventing Childhood Obesity |
Our kids face different problems as they grow up, what we are most concern about is their health, we want our child to grow strong and healthy so they can have a great lifestyle. However, we are seeing more and more childhood obesity at very early ages and this is a growing problem in America.
Preventing childhood obesity should be our primary concern before it becomes a health problem. Why is it important to prevent it? because if we dont educate our child and show them whats good for them, tv and mass media will educate them to eat junk and have an unhealthy lifestyle.
Im not going to get in to much detail here, but obesity is a health problem not just because it does not look good, but because it can provoke many unwanted diseases in your child like diabetes and even cancer or mental problems if your child is eating too much junk food that contain artificial sweeteners.
To prevent childhood obesity you should:
Encourage your children to play sports at school or with their friends. Exercise with him, so he can follow your example, if he makes the habit of exercising he will be in great shape and very healthy.
Dont let him watch too much Tv or spend too much ours playing video games. Too much tv provokes 2 problems, it avoids kids from doing physical activities and it brainwash them to eat more junk food with all the thousands of ads that they are exposed to.
Eat Nutrient food high in vitamins and minerals, in your house prepare food that is healthy, try to avoid processed food and use many natural foods, like fruits and vegetables. Your kid will make the habit of eating healthy and will most likely avoid fast food.
Avoid fast food, if you take your child to eat fast food regularly, they will become addict to eat that food and will want more thus getting unhealthy and dangerous food.
Go with a Nutritionist if you need it, so he can give you a diet plan and recommend you what is healthy to eat and what not.
Explain your child the dangers of eating too much junk food of the store and fast food chains. Tell him how strong he want to grow up and be successful.
If you follow those simple steps you are on your way to preventing childhood obesity, most people to care and thus the results are a lot of obese child and health problems at early ages. It does not mean that you can never eat something at your fast food restaurant, but avoid it as much as possible, dont eat fast food regularly.
The same goes for the lifestyle you kid have, take him to outside activities and make him like going out and do different things, not just watch tv. Also, sometimes there are child that are born with genetics similar to their parents that are obese and its more difficult to prevent it, but if you follow the recommendations and your consult a nutritionist you will most likely avoid it.
