Tips for Comic Book Storage
If you have a valuable comic book collection, there are several ways to store it. Comic book storage comes in several forms.
One of the most important things to remember is to keep them in specially made containers designed specifically for storing comic books or paper. Any paper or cardboard storage products should be acid-free and lignin-free, and plastic storage devices should be PVC-free.
You should also store your collection away from direct light, preferably in a climate controlled environment. The average shed or upstairs attic is obviously not ideal!
There are many different items available for storing comic books. For most comics, plastic sleeves as well as acid-free resealable bags are perfect. For especially valuable comics, you should consider plastic boxes made especially for this purpose. If you're going to seal these bags or sleeves with an adhesive, make certain that the adhesive never touches the comics themselves.
Where do you find plastic comic book boxes? Usually in shops that sell collectibles, or shops that sell storage and organizational containers. Then there are the Mylar comic book sleeves that have treated cardboard backing. This makes the sleeve much more sturdy and helps keep the comic book in perfect condition.
Now then, assuming you've stored all your most valuable books in individual containers, it's time to consider how to store the rest of your collection. You'll find that there are lots of different kinds of boxes that you can buy in comic book stores or online. They come in two different sizes. The short ones will holds about 100 books, while the longer ones can hold up to 300.
When you store your comic books, you may want to give some thought as to how you want to organize them. It's most common to organize them by comic book title, then in chronological order based on publication date. With organized comic book storage, you'll be able to find any issue you want quickly and easily, either to read or to sell.
