In America there is a serious problem of obesity that is why there are so many weight loss products selling every day, however it has become more common to see children with obesity, just in the last 2 decades the number of children with obesity has doubled.

Experts try to answer the question of what are the causes of this growing obesity trend in children, there are different versions, some say that heredity or biological factors are a cause, however this is the minority.

What we know for sure is that now children do less physical activities and eat more unhealthy food, but what does this have to do with video games? Instead of doing outside activities kids are spending more and more time watching tv and playing video games.

Some studies show that children that watch 5 hours of tv a day or play video games are more than 4 times the probability of being obese. This proves the correlation between media and obesity in children.

When we talk about media, it involved watching tv, playing video games, viewing commercials, radio commercials, magazines, newspaper, etc.

The reason that video games are a factor for obesity is that most children that play it, spend hours in front of the tv and eating snacks, they dont do any activity at all, they come from school to play video games, then after sleeping the keep playing, it becomes an addiction that promotes obesity.

It is not normal to not do any activity at all, when a person is just sitting for hours his metabolic rate slows down so he burns less calories per day than a normal person. Doing exercise accelerates the metabolism which is good to burn fat, but not doing anything at all, not even walking or going to the supermarket or anything slows the metabolism drastically.
